Rocket Landing
Launch a rocket booster to space, then fly it back down and land it standing up, like SpaceX. Your program reads the speed detector and works the engine itself.
No hardware, no sign-up: press Play and every mission runs on 3D simulated devices.
A booster stands ready on the pad. Turn the engine on and it blasts off! There's no autopilot: the engine pushes it up, and with the engine off it falls, faster and faster. Sensors on the tower tell its height, and the booster has a speed detector. Your program reads them and switches the engine to touch down slowly enough. Too fast and it smashes!
What you'll learn
- Sensing and deciding: falling too fast? Engine on. Slow enough? Engine off.
- Loops: keep reading the speed and working the engine until touchdown
- Planning: fuel is limited, so think about when to burn
Missions
- To space and back: reach space, then land on the pad at 15 m/s or slower
- Droneship: fire the side engine to reach the droneship and stop when the Over Ship sensor sees the booster, and the legs are yours: out too fast and they break
- Low fuel: like level 2 with less fuel, so make every second of braking count
